Nightmare

I wake up drenched in sweat
In the middle of the night
I can hardly breathe
And long to see the light

Why am I so sad?
How long will the darkness last?
I can’t endure the pain
From a haunted past

Paralyzed on my bed
I wallow in hot tears

Save me from my fears
